LightnTec Brings Telekom’s Logo to Life with Dynamic Innovation.
Logos are becoming dynamic – they now display variable messages and are more flexible in communication. Deutsche Telekom AG has taken the first step in this direction with the digital version of their iconic 'T' logo. This “retrofit” logo, standing at an impressive 5 meters in height, was installed on the rooftop of the company’s headquarters.
The standout feature: the magenta-colored surface of the 'T' logo and the four digits act as individual digital LED walls, capable of displaying animated content. Thanks to ledTec.flex technology, customers can customize any shape and size. The 'T' logo itself is composed of 84 light foils, precisely cut into the shape of the 'T,' and incorporates more than 11,000 LED spots. These spots are synchronized and controlled as a single screen using advanced video technology.
Another crucial advantage of the LightnTec foil is that the screen surface does not turn black when no content is displayed on the monitor. This is because the surface of the foil is colored in Telekom’s signature #loveMagenta. This project perfectly demonstrates LightnTec’s motto: anySize – anyShape – anyPlace.
The concept for applying dynamic logos was developed by the agency MetaDesign GmbH. The aim is to introduce a new parameter to complement the classical ones: light, shape, and color."
